Daniela Huerta + Canaan Balsam + pond baby
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Born in Mexico, Daniela Huerta is a Berlin-based multimedia artist, composer, and researcher. Under the moniker Baby Vulture, she has developed her own multi-layered and eclectic style of DJing.
Exploring the intersection of sound and consciousness, Huerta channels mythology and storytelling into a richly layered artistic practice that bridges the real and the imaginary, creating vivid landscapes that aim to connect with the depths of the human psyche. Her approach is equal parts raw and refined – a boundary – pushing exploration of sound as a narrative force.
Her collaborative spirit shines in projects like KOAXULA, a sonic activation duo with artist Natalia Escobar that reclaims mythological female archetypes and fading cosmovisions to forge reimagined ways of existence.
With Concepción Huerta, she forms HUERTA ENSAMBLE, a collaborative research project dedicated to creating sound works through synthesis and magnetic tape recordings. Their live performances are rooted in improvisation and the unique dialogue that unfolds in each setting. In 2022, they released their debut EP, AQVA, published by Ensamble Records.
Huerta has performed at events and venues such as MUTEK.MX, Heroines of Sound, Radical Sounds Latin America, CTM Festival, Berghain, Kiezsalon, Neue Nationalgalerie, Roter Salon, and Silent Green, among others. Her commissioned projects include works for Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Centro de Cultura Digital (CCD), Musée d’Orsay, Centre Pompidou, MOCA Geffen Warehouse, Musée du Luxembourg, and ArteBa.
She has released music on labels such as Other People, Concentric Records, Tsuku Boshi, Ensamble Records, Karlrecords, Kashual Plastik, WET, and Petites Planètes. Her debut LP, SOPLO, was released on Elevator Bath in October 2024.
“The album begins with the most modest of field recordings – the splashing of water, a forest of birds – but will soon run far afield. Light notes enter as the water continues to flow; we are entering a different river, a river of sound” – A CLOSER LISTEN
“Foreboding beauty, glowing aural radiance, the fathomless shudder of sleeping giants breath, Soplo is filled with succulent tones and disturbing mummers” – LOST IN A SEA OF SOUND
“An eerie, hypnotic atmosphere permeates Soplo, with its ambivalent, wandering melodies, flowing synth patterns, unpredictable experiments, and manipulations, all complemented by processed field recordings.” – IGLOO MAGAZINE

Canaan Balsam is an electronic musician based in Edinburgh. Their work explores the dead space between ambient and new age music; the liminal zone between the harshness of industrial and the beatific serenity of devotional music. Their last record 'Eternity Lies Within or Nowhere' was released in 2023 on Where to Now? records and received positive reviews and was named a First Floor album of the year.
“Eternity lies within or nowhere, the second full-length from Canaan Balsam, is an arrestingly gorgeous record … infusing his existential gloom and melancholy with cathedral-ready drama and majesty, Balsam occupies an unique emotional space, one that’s both totally captivating and full of fascinating contradictions.”….“Canaan’s considered, emotionally aware experimentations hold that unique power to stop our world dead in its tracks, lulling the listener through the darkness but ultimately towards the light – there is an intense hope within Canaan’s work, where pieces guides us through a crushingly low emptiness, but always towards glistening introspective peaks.”
Their upcoming record is due to be released later this year, and promises to be both a religious pilgrimage towards a singular embalming, medicated calmness and a primeval quest for sonic nihilism, that is located within an emancipatory reflex of excess - an excess of everything - of noise, of emotion, of spirituality, of carnality - that peaks like a needle of adrenaline sunken into the death drive.
