Glasgow’s Deer Leader return with their second full-length release, The Bluebirds of Happiness, on Last Night From Glasgow. More urgent and thematically expansive the album marks a clear evolution in their sound. If their debut album was an inward-looking search for identity in a world of spiraling individualism, The Bluebirds of Happiness turns its gaze outward — one that confronts the shifting role of the individual within the collective.

The Bluebirds of Happiness sees the band sharpen their sound — drawing influence from the atmospheric decay of Low’s most recent records, the mechanical tension of Nine Inch Nails, the emotive math rock of American Football, and the rhythmic drive of Can’s krautrock.
