Jazz at the Glad: David Bowden - Unsung Songs
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Following the release of his critically acclaimed solo album 'Unsung Songs', bass player David Bowden presents an evening of music in two contrasting sets.
The first set features Bowden alone with the double bass, performing music from the new record alongside unreleased material. Described by The Scotsman as "absorbing explorations in solo double bass playing" and praised by BBC Radio 3's Soweto Kinch for its "beauty, breadth and emotional range", the performance draws on jazz, folk, and contemporary songwriting to reveal the expressive possibilities of the double bass as a solo instrument.
The second set shifts from solo performance to collaboration, with Bowden joined by friends and collaborators from Glasgow's vibrant jazz scene. Building on the musical language of Unsung Songs, the performance brings together familiar and new material in a fresh ensemble setting.
