Garúa Tango Club + Amulet
Entry Requirements: OVER 18s ONLY
Garua Tango Club is a Glasgow-based tango ensemble, set up by classical musicians who were craving more freedom with the desire to share a joy that tango music and dance can bring into the community. Garua Tango has been working to root a culture of tango in Scotland by working closely with Scottish composers and dancers, while revisiting old milongas, Piazzolla's music and contemporary tango music. Led by an Argentine cellist, Santiago Gil Duarte, they play with conviction you would hear in Buenos Aires, while holding an open space for queer and non-traditional artists. Having links with Paisley Tango and Glasgow Tango Club, GTC has performed at dancing events (milongas), as well as concerts in RumShack, Websters theatre and a sell-out multidisciplinary performance in Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. On 27th of November, Garua Tango Club is going to bring hot Argentinian spirit to Glasgow's Southside, playing classic tango tunes and crazy contemporary pieces, so don't forget your dancing shoes and your sexy dance moves.
Amulet make repetition-based experimental folk to keep you safe. The Glasgow-based band use looped electric guitar, analogue synthesiser, field recordings and samples from multiple folk cultures to create moving soundscapes from fragments of melody and texture.
