Jazz at The Glad: Sam Braysher
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Sam Braysher is currently touring his new album exploring the music of Kurt Weill, a fascinating composer - best known for "Mack the Knife", "My Ship" and "September Song" - who lies at the intersection of European classical music, jazz, opera and American musical theatre. The critically-acclaimed, cool-toned young London alto saxophonist is joined by an all-star Scottish rhythm section: award-winning double bassist Andrew Robb and Alyn Cosker, resident drummer with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. In addition to beloved songs by Weill, the trio play fun, swinging arrangements of items from the American and jazz canon, including compositions by the likes of George Gershwin, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Carlos Antonio Jobim.
"I can’t think of another alto saxophonist with a sound quite like Sam Braysher’s” **** Dave Gelly, The Observer
