Unharm is a new group fronted by guitarist James Mackay. Informed by jazz roots, the group blends electronic sounds from UK dance styles with dynamic improvisational performance. Sonically the band reaches from expansive ambience to heavy grooves; Unharm is searching for the spirit of human emotion in every element of its sound. This performance will take inspiration from minimal drone music. Influenced by composers like Kali Malone and Elaine Radigue, James is deeply connected to the simplicity and depth of these sound worlds. By starting with drones and slowly building up to more developed music, the juxtaposition between these textures will create an immersive atmosphere that brings forth many feelings and perspectives on music and sound. Unharm will be collaborating with multi-media artist Nikki Zaupa to provide generative and reactive live digital visuals.
