Screening of the documentary O Zelador (The Caretaker)

Capoeira is not limited to the body alone. As the old masters often remind us, it encompasses tudo que a boca come (literally, ‘everything the mouth eats’, but the phrase is used to express an all-encompassing view of what feeds our lives). The documentary O Zelador portrays the harsh reality of the Baixada Fluminense and its devoted caretaker, Mestre Russo de Caxias.

Ponta-Cabeça invites everyone to a screening of the documentary The Caretaker by Daren Bartlett at Glad Café, followed by a conversation circle with Mestre Russo de Caxias himself and a celebration of Brazilian rhythms and sounds with Mr Friday (@ogomir). An opportunity to reflect on Brazilian street culture, its encruzilhadas (crossroads), and the paths it opens between memory, resistance, and community.

Entry: Pay what you can

This event runs on a Pay What You Can basis. Please choose the rate that feels most appropriate for your circumstances. Suggestion but not a rule.

£11-£15 - For those comfortably meeting their basic needs and with disposable income . £6-£10 - For those able to meet their basic needs but with limited disposable income.

£1-£5 - For those currently experiencing financial difficulty, underemployment, or without disposable income.
