His love of vintage R&B and effortless ability to re-create it makes Geraint Watkins one of the most in-demand musical forces in the business. As their go-to sideman, he has recorded and performed with a cream-of-the-crop line-up including Nick Lowe, Van Morrison, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, Andy Fairweather Low, Mark Knopfler, Paul McCartney Status Quo and Eric Clapton and he counts Bob Dylan as a fan. He has fronted many great bands as well from The Dominators in the late ‘70s to The Balham Alligators. Watkins is also a song-writer who’s admired by others, having had his material covered by Don McLean, Pokey LaFarge and Dave Edmunds. His band, hand-picked hot shots who are all in the same groove, is for many, as good as it ever gets.
