Inspired by English and Appalachian folk blended with alternative pop music, Amy Hollinrake draws on women’s stories within folklore and mythology and fuses them with a contemporary sound placing her at the forefront of the new era of feminist neo-folk.

Her recent EP 'Sad Lady Songs Vol.1’ reimagines traditional folk songs and tales, combining them with dulcimers and synthesizers to create a head spinning mix of yesterday and today.

She has garnered attention from the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley and Tom Robinson, BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour. She also gained prestigious awards from EFDSS, Help Musicians and the Bert Jansch Foundation for her work, and recently appeared on projects for Disney (The Little Mermaid), 20th Century Fox (The Boogyman), and Don Broco.

Hollinrake is also the founder of project Loathly Lady, a creative feminist cataloging project exploring gendered narratives in traditional music.

“Hollinrake’s voice captivates - a Sandy Denny for a new century” - For Folk’s Sake

Curlew is the solo project from singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and all round musical mystic Gill Higgins.

A folk-pop multi instrumentalist, she incorporates acoustic string, wind and percussive instruments, field recordings, synthesizers and loop pedals. She is interested in the interaction of nature and machine and the way that music can unite strangers.

She's a founding member of the much missed Skinny Dipper, and in her session work has lent her incredible voice and skill for instrumentation to some of Glasgow's most exciting bands in recent years (including Honeyblood, Ruby Gaines, Elizabeth Elektra, Wesley Chung, and Broken Chanter amongst others). Higgins also formed CLR Theory in 2020 - recording their debut album whilst working remotely with other musicians during lockdown which was finally released in 2023.
