Cole Pulice + Pillow Lava
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Cole Pulice (they/them) is an electroacoustic saxophonist, improviser, and composer based originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, now based in Oakland, California. Cole's work blends saxophone and wind synthesist with live signal processing for a deeply contemporary sound that opens up surrealist sonic spaces between acoustic and digital worlds, playfully drifting between contemplative improvisation, modern composition, and sonic experimentalism.
Cole’s most recent solo work, a 22-minute electroacoustic work titled If I Don’t See You in the Future, I’ll See You In the Pasture (Longform Editions, 2023), was named “Best New Music” by Pitchfork and landed at #25 of Pitchfork’s “Best 100 Songs of 2023” year-end list. In addition to their solo work, Cole is a frequent collaborator, including work with Lynn Avery (To Live & Die in Space & Time, Moon Glyph Records), and the electroacoustic trio Signal Quest (Hypermyth, Orange Milk Records).
Pillow Lava is the experimental duo of Beth Horseman and Danny Igoe - a semi-improvisational, sonic hot-spring of field recordings, organic samples, ethereal vocals and spoken word. Combining creative coding, delay patches, analogue synthesis and a tidal wave of reverb, they explore ambient, shifting soundscapes through digital loops, feedback and a fascination with the sublime.
