Scott C. Park + Annie Booth
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Scott C. Park spent the best of his adolescence in the Outer Hebrides within the walls of presbyterian churches: reading, re-reading, praying over the sick, yelling to heaven for spiritual revival — and then his faith fell to pieces. From his home on the beach in the Isle of Lewis he has been processing the reconstruction of spirituality through sharply written alt-country songs that veer from the wobbling humour of bands like Pavement, to bleeding confessionals reminiscent of Bright Eyes and Elliott Smith. Scott’s two self-produced EPs received airplay on BBC Scotland, BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal, and KROQ in Los Angeles, and Louder Than War described his soundas an ‘instantly engaging combination of jangly guitars and laid back, folksy vocals’. His debut album, recorded at Black Bay Studio in the Isle of Lewis is due out soon, full of tales of misspent years, Scottish fears, and island towns where the struggle is kept behind closed doors.
Also featuring on this show is Annie Booth, a Scottish artist with a gift for mood-painting and storytelling. A modern folk singer, performer and songwriter - with a flair for the nostalgic and the melancholy - she wields a unique voice in Scotland, bridging genre and influence with ease. Annie’s record Lazybody received critical acclaim, including a nomination for Scottish Album of the Year 2022.
