An Evening with Bob Leslie - Special Guest, Pauline Vallance
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Glasgow-based songwriter Bob Leslie performs material from critically acclaimed solo albums Land and Sea (2017), The Barren Fig (2019), and In Praise of Crows (2021) plus advance tracks from 2024 release Red Roses on a Cold Blue Morning. His song The World Came to Springburn, will be featured in the 2024 documentary film The Last Train.
“Rebellious, political undertone blended with cask-strength satire ... draws comparisons to Scottish folk greats such as Matt McGinn, Hamish Imlach and The Corries” Cluck Old Hen (May 2021) “The emphasis is on entertainment … if this album is any guide, I think that a Bob Leslie gig would be a good night out.” Folking Magazine (April 2021) “Things that traditional songs are made of: drovers, his homeland, war, history, mythology. The mix is peppered with humour too, good songs, killer lines, leaves the listener smiling” The Living Tradition (August 2019) .............................................
Pauline Vallance’s 2022 release, The World's a Gift - Celtic Music Radio “Album of the Week”, described by Folking Magazine as “a gift that keeps on giving.” A master of flute and clarsach, she sings in a warm intimate fashion that draws her audience into her musical world.
As well as her own material, Pauline has gained YouTube fame through her settings of well-known songs to different tunes – you haven’t lived till you’ve heard Sultans of Swing to the tune of My Old Man's a Dustman! If that weren’t enough, her show, What The Brontes Did at The Fringe, originally at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and since on tour, has been described by critics as "a real fringe delight" and “enjoyable and enlightening.”
