Plays From Palestine
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Tickets bookable online. Walk-ups on the night also welcome.
This event focuses attention on the long history of Israel's brutal occupation, zooming in on intergenerational trauma and the ongoing impact on Palestinian children who are being murdered, orphaned and starved.
On the 19th we will share works from theatre-makers and artists across Palestine including:
New testimony from the Gaza Monologues 2023 by Ali Abu Yassin
and a Script-in-hand reading of FIREWORKS by Dalia Taha
The night will close with a informal space for discussion about how theatre makers, arts workers and Glasgow citizens can continue to support the Palestinian struggle.
This is not the beginning of the story and our event is a community action that's part of the growing demand from people across the world horrified by the war crimes being inflicted upon Palestinians by Israel. We call for an immediate and unequivocal CEASEFIRE and demand the UK Government ceases its involvement in genocide, withdraws its support for Israeli war crimes and immediately ends arms sales to Israel.
The event is free with all organisers, contributors and performers donating their time. On the night we will have buckets and will be collecting donations for Medical Aid for Palestine: https://www.map.org.uk/
We recognise that for our disabled colleagues there are substantial barriers to participating in many forms of public gathering and activism. We are working to ensure the event is accessible as possible and will post updates here. If you have specific access needs you'd like to discuss in advance, please contact us via Eventbrite with your preferred contact and one of the organisers will be in touch.
