Olive Grove Records at The Glad: Hank Tree + Adam Ross + Henry & Fleetwood
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
The first in a series of gigs at the Glad Cafe featuring artists associated with Olive Grove Records, featuring live performances from Hank Tree, Adam Ross and Henry & Fleetwood, plus the premiere of Hank Tree's Creative Scotland funded video for Sweet Saltpeter, directed by Felipe Bustos Sierra (Nae Pasaran).
Hank Tree is a Glasgow based project led by Fergus MacDonald (ex- State Broadcasters), also comprising Roy Shearer (Ultras, Inspector Tapehead) and Bart Owl (Eagleowl, Broken Chanter). Hank Tree's first EP was released by Chilean label Uva Robot in 2018 and a debut LP, The Big North, was released in 2022, via Olive Grove Records. The album features songs inspired by the dramatic rise and fall of prosperity of the desert region of El Norte Grande in Chile. The band's sound is characterised by fast picked classical guitars, atmospheric ballads, distortion-heavy instrumentals and hushed vocals, often incorporating field recordings and featuring lyrics focusing on social history. They have supported artists including King Creosote, Alasdair Roberts and Gwenifer Raymond and have received airplay on BBC 6Music and BBC Scotland.
Adam Ross is a songwriter based in north-east Scotland. He has led the cult indie band Randolph's Leap for over a decade, releasing music with King Creosote and Pictish Trail’s Fence Records and Lost Map as well as Olive Grove Records and Fika Recordings. He released a debut solo folk album 'Staring At Mountains' in 2022 with Jenny Sturgeon and Pedro 'Man of the Minch' Cameron accompanying him on the record. He is known for his intricate, storytelling lyrical style which often blends humour and poignancy and his songs even inspired a touring theatre show ‘The Isle of Love’. 2024 will see the release of a brand-new solo album.
