VLMV (pronounced ALMA) is a self-proclaimed ambient-ish post-something singer-songwriter, composer and producer from London.

Part of the illustrious Erased Tapes family, alongside luminaries such as Olafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm, he has released 2 critically acclaimed albums on Fierce Panda Records, alongside 2022’s Sing With Abandon out on Pete’s own label, Nice Weather for Airstrikes, and the all instrumental EP Flora & Fauna shortly after via Bigo & Twigetti.

Known as ALMA until 2018’s literal name flip, necessitated by regular cases of mistaken identity with the Finnish Pop namesake, VLMV take their name from the Atacama Large Millimeter / submillimeter Array – “a really bloody powerful telescope”. Formed in early 2015 and fronted by songwriter Pete Lambrou, and joined by fellow Code-In-The-Clouder Ciaran Morahan, VLMV were signed immediately to Fierce Panda Records, and released their debut self titled mini album in August 2015 to critical acclaim from the likes of The Independent and Lauren Laverne. Their full length follow up, Stranded Not Lost, was released in February 2018 and was nominated for a PROG award later that year. Going solo since the enforced break and pandemic, 2022’s Sing With Abandon was released on Pete’s own label Nice Weather for Airstrikes. Born from a global pandemic, multiple lockdowns, and a country breaking up with it’s loved ones, PROG Magazine described it as ‘A proper album, then, as best experienced as such’.

VLMV’s music has been seen and heard on screen all over the world, being featured on The Champions League final 2019, MTV’s Teen Mom, Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour alongside advert spots for Nike and Santander. Pete has also composed music for Ikea, Rolex, Hyundai, The National Trust, Jurassic Park and many more. VLMV’s debut self-titled album also pipped Royal Blood in the UK Independent iTunes charts in it's first week of release.

Live, VLMV deploys loop stations, guitars, piano, synths, vocal loops, pedalboard tap dancing and instrument swapping to create a slow-moving, high-flying soundscape of luscious one-man-band gravitas.

Hank Tree is a Glasgow based project led by Fergus MacDonald (ex- State Broadcasters), also comprising Roy Shearer (Ultras, Inspector Tapehead), Bart Owl (Eagleowl, Broken Chanter) and singer-songwriter Faith Eliott. Hank Tree's debut LP, The Big North, was released in 2022, via Olive Grove Records, and features songs inspired by the dramatic rise and fall of prosperity of the desert region of El Norte Grande in Chile. The band's sound is characterised by fast picked classical guitars, atmospheric ballads, distortion-heavy instrumentals and hushed vocals, often incorporating field recordings and featuring lyrics focusing on social history. They have supported artists including King Creosote, Alasdair Roberts and Gwenifer Raymond.

Roddy Hart (BBC Radio Scotland): "The perfect collision of Nick Drake-esque finger picking and Monster era REM."

Stuart Maconie on The Big North: “A lovely thing!”
