Tara Clerkin Trio + NOISE POCKET
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Using looped and layered clarinet, vocals, samples, keys & percussion, Tara Clerkin Trio spin you into spacy beguile.
'Drifting from dubby minimalism to smudged acid jazz, Tara’s stark and tuneful voice acts as the vehicle for her concise poetic lyricism. The group coalesce disparate influences into a cohesive sound, reflecting a romantic view of a familiar world.' — THE WIRE
Tara Clerkin Trio are Pat Benjamin, Sunny Joe Paradisos and Tara Clerkin, three musicians involved in a number of cult Bristol bands over the years before confidently settling down in triangle formation. They are inspired by and borrow from jazz, trip hop, electronica, psychedelia & minimalism, twirling the non-pretensious strands of these threads together into a trippy green winged-cloak, adorning Arthur Russell and dripping in blue jam.
Their self titled debut LP was released in 2020 and was a sleeper hit, coming in at 35 in the Wire's top 100 albums of the year and in Bleeps top 10.
'There is a fluidity and synchronicity that belies the age of the members. This is the sound of a well-honed unit of working together at the highest level, rewarding to throw on and sink into time and again.' — BLEEP
NOISE POCKET are an experimental hip hop duo, based in Glasgow and made of paddy hog (vocals) and Harry Gorski-Brown (production). The music sounds like lots of things being put through a blender. It's noisy, industrial and glitchy with some pop binding it together. It’s emotional at points but always high energy. paddy’s screams and mouthful flows quickly fall to soft melodies, with HGB pulling beats apart, twisting the live vocals and putting it all back together again.
