Chloe Matharu and Tom Mallitte will be sharing music on 23rd October at The Glad Cafe, Glasgow, 7pm until 10pm. Music starting at 7.30pm. Chloe Matharu is a Scottish singer/songwriter and harpist, inspired by her time at sea as a Deck Officer in the Merchant Navy. This gig is part of her UK tour following the release of her debut album, Small Voyages, on 16th September. Special guest, Tom Mallitte, will be joining us from Wales.
Chloe Matharu's music has been described as "truly haunting" by BBC Radio Scotland. Her thoughtful and sensitive songwriting draws on her experience as a Navigational Officer in the Merchant Navy, inspired by the natural world seen at sea. Her music offers a new maritime narrative, the voice of the female seafarer. Of mixed Indian and Welsh heritage, and crossing boundaries in her career at sea, Chloe is keen to explore breaking down cultural and gender barriers through the language of music. Expect evocative, heartfelt songs set to an ethereal backdrop of harp music. Her debut album, released on 16th September, features an innovative combination of Chloe's compositions blended with field recordings of the natural world.
