Greenpeace Glasgow: 'What Triggered the Amazon Fires?' Film Screening
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Join Greenpeace Glasgow for a film and discussion night about the root causes of the Amazon fires.
The night will start with an exciting talk from a group who have volunteered in a conservation project the Amazon. They are going to describe the experience, share their stories and answer any questions.
This will be followed by a showing of the Al Jazeera documentary "What Triggered the Amazon Fires" which features Greenpeace Brazil, Amazon Watch and scientists discussing how the Amazon fires were started.
We will finish with a open discussion covering the following points:
Do you think governments or corporations have more power to reduce the worst impacts of the Amazon fires and future environmental catastrophes?
How do you think we can best communicate the links between the meat industry and the Amazon fires to the public?
How do you think that the international community can better safeguard the Amazon?
How do you think we can prevent these fires in future as citizens in the UK?
How do you think that we can counter the narrative that the West is unfairly exercising power over the Brazillian people by promoting environmental protection?
There is a bar at the venue but please BYOC (bring your own cup) to avoid using single use plastic cups.
