Sundown Song Night presents a VERY special and exciting line up for June's song-filled night in the southside of Glasgow.
Zoë Bestel Ethereal vocals, poignant melodies and stirring lyrics describes award winning nu-folk musician, Zoë Bestel, hailed as one of Scotland’s most fascinating young singer-songwriters. As well as numerous BBC radio performances, 21 year old Bestel has captivated audiences across Denmark, Germany, Finland, and the Czech Republic, as well as numerous festivals including Orkney Folk Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, and Celtic Connections.
Katie Macfarlane Katie is a Gaelic and Scots singer from Airdrie who is greatly influenced by her connections to North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. She has had a passion for Gaelic and Scots song all her life and has been a semi-finalist in both BBC Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician and BBC Radio 2's Young Folk Award competitions. In 2018, Katie carried out an exchange of Gaelic and Catalan song while living in Barcelona and later released her debut EP - Ciùine Na Mara - in April 2019 which is a mixture of the two styles and also self-penned folk song.
Sundown Song Night is a new modern folkclub in Glasgow's Southside, where two folk singers of completely different styles are brought together for a unique and beautiful night of song in the beautifully intimate setting of the Glad Cafe. In June we have a stunning line up from either ends of the folky spectrum, with two of the most beautiful voices you could ever dream of hearing.
