He is currently artist in residence at House for an Art Lover and in this specially curated screening for Southside Film Festival Callum joins us to screen some of his short documentaries and talk about his work. Callum’s first short film Mining Poems or Odes (11 mins) about a poet in Govan won the BAFTA Scotland Best Short Film in 2015, was nominated for Best Short Film at the BAFTA UK awards in 2016, as well as being selected to screen in competition at Sundance 2017 and at Venice Biennale in 2018. Listen to Bridgeton (8mins), 2017 was chosen to screen at BFI Southbank and on BBC Four as part of a celebration of the 75th anniversary of Listen to Britain, Humphrey Jennings and Stewart McAlister's poetic collage of British life. His most recent short titled Mary (5mins) was commissioned by Film Roundhouse and shown on the BBC and tells the story of Mary and her contrasting lives in Glasgow and Orkney. Thanks to House for an Art Lover.
