Celtic Connections: Glad Community Choir sing Paul Simon
Entry Requirements: Over 18s only
Please note this event will take place at LANGSIDE PARISH CHURCH and not The Glad Cafe
Now in their 7th year of existence, The Glad Community Choir (based in The Glad Cafe - Glasgow’s vibrant Southside cultural hub) have explored a wide variety of works with concerts featuring the music of Moondog, Purcell, Judy Sill, Ivor Cutler, John Williams, Bowie, Carol King, St Vincent, Alee Willis, Rozi Plain, Amy Beach, Burt Bacharach and Hal David as well as delving into the tradition of Sacred Harp singing and getting to know the music published on New York's Tin Pan Alley.
This year the 70 member strong choir - along with some high profile friends - take on the songs of the peerless Paul Simon who this year announced his retirement from touring. The choir will explore Simon’s back catalogue from his days with Art Garfunkle, through his 70s solo career, his era-defining 80s records, Graceland and Rhythms of the Saints up to the present day.
