Since then Aby has shared the stage and/or studio with a brilliant array of musicians from a wide range of genres (including Maggie Nichols and Karen Mantler from the jazz/improvisation world, Krautrocker Hans Joachim Irmler of Faust, indie-rockers Yo La Tengo, folk musicians such as Ali Roberts, Bridget St John and Mike Heron from the Incredible String Band, pop stars such as Stevie Jackson (Belle and Sebastian) and Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub) and with a range of ensembles including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Aby’s ongoing long-term collaborations include with Stevie Jones (Sound of Yell, since 2012) with Bill Wells (The National Jazz Trio of Scotland, since 2007 with releases on Karaoke Kalk since 2012), with the 14-piece Swiss band Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp (since 2016) with Seth Bennett (En Bas, since 2014) and with Matt Bourne (Isotach, since 2017). Jo Burke

Jo Burke is an accomplished singer, pianist, traditional fiddle/ Norwegian fiddle player and composer. The dark clarity and subtle expressiveness of her singing voice, combined with her exquisite and intelligent interpretations of traditional songs, have been known to make even the great Shirley Collins cry. She is also a member of Hamilton Yarns (www.hamiltonyarns.co.uk) and the Mary Hampton Cotillion (www.maryhampton.org/cotillion). Jo performed with the London Bulgarian Choir for many years and sings on their albums ‘Goro le Goro’ and ‘Alyana Galyana’. She is also a member of the London Hardangerfele Lag and has recorded and toured across the U.S. with the Mediaeval Baebes. Her vocals are featured on the sound track to Halo 4 and the Smirnoff advertisement ‘Sea’. She also teaches music to children around the south east of England.

Her work as a composer includes a collaboration with dancer Victoria McCarte on her piece ‘Eve’s Aquarium’, the sound track to a short film ‘Altar’ by Roland Kemp, music for a London Theatre Production of ‘The Brothers Size’ by Tarell Alvin McCraney, and vocal music performed at a Pagan Well Blessing in St Leonards. She also received a New Venture Theatre award for music she wrote and performed for a production of Hansel and Gretel in 2012.

She has sung on the mountains of Bulgaria and danced with the Bedouin in Egypt. On the last night of October each year, you may meet Joanna’s ‘other’ self, Madame Burkeskina-Burkeski in a darkened caravan where she will tell you your fortune. She can also be seen whittling bamboo spears as a member of a post-apocalyptic tribe in Ben Rivers’ science fiction documentary film ‘Slow Action’.
