Detention Dialogues- An Ice & Fire project in collaboration with Scottish Detainee Visitors.
Ice and Fire's Actors for Human Rights outreach project is dedicated to exploring human rights concerns through the creation and performance of documentary scripts.
Detention Dialogues is a verbatim script which reflects the experiences of people whose lives have been affected by Immigration Detention in Scotland. With immigration detention set to continue indefinitely in Scotland these first hand accounts address a very pertinent subject in an immediate and powerful way, opening it up for discussion and debate.
Here’s some audience reaction from previous performances...
'' The insight I gained into the stories of the three individuals' experiences was humbling ...moving, powerful and thought provoking...’’
‘’..I have been reflecting on what I heard and my own reaction to it. Hearing these stories in a Scottish accent was incredibly powerful. Those who are unwelcoming towards asylum seekers often cannot find a personal connection to them. In this format, I think more people would appreciate that we cannot choose the country we are born in to....INSPIRATIONAL!! Thank you''
