Cozytown Live presents an evening all about FOOD!
Cozytown Live is a bi-monthly event where we explore a topic close to one musician's heart! With your host, local enthusiast and glitchy folk enchanter, L.T.Leif.
April 21st focusses on the work of Carla J. Easton, persevering heroine of the Scottish pop scene. Easton’s work falls somewhere between Prince and Carly Rae Jepson, with a chaos and sensibility that Pitchfork calls “bubblegum pop [with] the scrappy glamour of a homemade theatrical production”. Easton has written, produced, and released 3 critically acclaimed albums, as well as writing for TeenCanteen, Belle & Sebastian, BMX Bandits, & National Theatre Scotland. She has performed at festivals across the UK and internationally, touring the UK with Camera Obscura, The Vaselines and Aidan Moffat. Her latest project is Poster Paints, formed with Simon Liddell (Frightened Rabbit) during 2020. Easton is also a member of the Hen Hoose Collective, and is working on a feature-length documentary about the unsung pioneers of Scottish pop - namely women who’ve been otherwise overlooked in dominant stories about music.
In support of the evening will be a series of performances and contributions, including the brilliant food-related folk ballads of Jude Norton-Smith, and delectable covers from our house band (feat. members of Sprog Rock and Eagleowl). There will also be screenings, snacks and other tasty treats planned by your buds of Cozytown Live. It’s always a nice time, and you are invited.
